A small, light diesel is a specific French speciality. The 1.4 TUD3 arrived in August 1992 with 50 PS; in late 1994 it was replaced by the 1.5 TUD5 with 58 PS, which then ran until the last 106 in 2003.
Neither engine was quick. Both were the kind of engine a family drove for a decade and 250,000 km.
